Parry Sound and Area….a bit of history
A town, in Central Ontario, Parry Sound is located on the eastern shore of Georgian Bay, a very popular cottage country region for Southern Ontario. Just two hours north of Toronto, and two hours south of Sudbury, Parry Sound also boasts the world’s deepest natural fresh water port. During the early part of the 20th century, this area was a very popular subject for many of the well-known Canadian artists, the Group of Seven. Named after the arctic explorer, Sir William Edward Parry, the town site was established in 1857 at the mouth of the Seguin River.
